This fourth principle of eros which I called in my earlier writing Interconnectivity might be better renamed as Wholeness.
Interconnectivity means that there is not part that is merely a part and not part of a larger whole.
there is not part that is not part of a larger whole. It is the usurpation of wholeness by a part that produces all pathology and ultimately all suffering and pain.
A nation that refuses to see itself as part of the community of nations. A person that seeks to hijack the relational dynamic to serve her own narcisitic ends. A cancer cell that multiplies ignoring it’s contextual relationship with other cells. A zen master who uses his Zendo merely for his own aggrandizement. A student who sexually abuses their teacher. And idea that refuses to compete with other ideas. All things are inter- related. Nothings stands alone. All ideas, beings, existents are in subtle balanced relationship with each other.
Wow.
What that means is that there is not alienation in the Universe
Okay now here is a second expression of wholeness.
Love Knows No Distance — Non-Local Love
The interconnectivity of being is neither doctrine nor dogma. Rather it is the fully accessible nature of reality if we just take the time to notice.
This enmeshment in a web of connection is the essential erotic experience of mystics throughout the ages. But all of us catch glimpses of it as well, though. We have all known those moments of seemingly inexplicable coincidences – a mother having a piercing pain in her chest precisely when her daughter 2000 miles away has been in a car accident, or that time when you thought of an old friend only to come home to a message from them on your answering machine. These subtle synchronicities are all part of our daily reality. They are the faint yet persistent whisperings of the universe which says, “You are not alone. Love knows no distance.” The all is connected to the all.
