The Original Misperception
The original misperception, writes Israel, Master of the Name, is to see yourself as separate from God. That is original sin. Evil, in biblical myth, is called “Amalek.” Again, mystical gematria points us to a deeper truth, because as the Kabbalists note, the numerical value of “amalek” is the same as the word “safek,” meaning uncertainty. This is not uncertainty about dogma or doctrine, as it is usually explained, but rather a deeper uncertainty. An uncertainty about my own value. The great sin of Amalek in kabbala is misperception.
Amalek- Evil is the part of us that perceives without love.
We have been told for so long that we are all separate beings and that we had better protect our turf, so we’re afraid of love because it threatens the fortresses we have erected to keep others out but which serve as well to keep us locked in. The greatest tragedy in the world is to die before being born.
