part two of Love Story
An incredible tale, at first glance — tragic, but in the final analysis — redeemed. Quite simply, Shalom, with all his study of the sublime, could not perceive the very sublime that sat before him in the form of his own daughter. But that’s okay, because the Malach could. The Malach — with his acclaimed celestial radiance — saw in his wife an exquisiteness even greater than his own. And this beauty was not for her father to perceive.
He would not have been able to bear it, and indeed, it was not for him to bear. Parents, with all their immense love, are privy to a different perception than the likes which the Lover beholds.
